Robert Strati is an American artist, born in Boston in 1970. He has a degree in Art History from the Ohio State University and creates multimedia artworks using broken plates. Strati’s recent series “Fragmented” started when his wife accidentally broke a plate that belonged to her late mother. Instead of throwing it away, he kept one of the large fragments and placed it on their kitchen island. At one point he saw how the fragment suggested a new story and he took it back to his studio to begin working. Each piece Strati creates tells a story that moves beyond the break, showing how even through chaos, we can find hope and transformation. For Strati, his work reflects how we can both include and be freed from the past to continue our stories and create something new. Strati’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. His most recent exhibitions include solo exhibitions at FREMIN Gallery (NY), Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum (GA) and Chaos Contemporary Craft Gallery (OH). He currently lives and maintains his studio in New York.
